WooCommerce Subscriptions

PowerTranz Payment Gateway fully supports WooCommerce Subscriptions, enabling you to sell subscription products with automatic recurring payments.

Requirements

• WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin – Purchased separately from WooCommerce

Supported Features

The plugin supports all WooCommerce Subscriptions features:

• Automatic recurring payments
• Free trials
• Sign-up fees
• Subscription upgrades and downgrades
• Payment method changes
• Subscription suspension and reactivation
• Subscription cancellation
• Multiple subscriptions per order

How Renewals Work

When a customer purchases a subscription:

1. The initial payment is processed
2. The customer’s card is automatically tokenized (saved)
3. When the renewal date arrives, the saved card is charged automatically
4. The customer receives an email notification of the renewal

No action is required from the customer for renewals – everything is handled automatically.

Failed Renewals

If a renewal payment fails (e.g., expired card, insufficient funds):

1. The subscription status changes to On Hold
2. The customer is notified by email
3. WooCommerce Subscriptions will retry the payment according to your retry settings
4. The customer can update their payment method from their account

Customer Payment Method Management

Customers can update the card used for their subscription:

1. Go to My Account → Subscriptions
2. Click on the subscription
3. Click Change Payment
4. Enter new card details or select a different saved card

Admin Management

As a store admin, you can manage subscriptions from WooCommerce → Subscriptions:

• View all active, on-hold, and cancelled subscriptions
• Manually process renewal payments
• Change subscription status
• View payment history for each subscription

Important Notes

• Tokenization does not need to be enabled for subscription to work. The plugin assumes tokenization for any subscription product.
• Customers must be logged in to purchase subscriptions (guest checkout is not supported for subscriptions)
• 3D Secure is applied to the initial subscription payment but not to automatic renewals
